Cows can lie down or stand up when the calf is going to be born. The calf is going to pop out and try to stand, its wobbly but it will eventually get to the mother’s udder. The farmer checks that cows and calfs are alright then the farmer takes the calves to a nice warm shed with other calves. In the shed all the calves are very hungry. When calves are hungry some calfs be greedy and they always want to be first. As calfs grow older they start to nibble on some grass and drink less milk.

The calves grow tiny horns which are cut off. They get injections to prevent sickness. The best calves are saved for milking cows. One cow can produce up to 20,000 litres of milk. The male cows are made into beef or veal. The best bull are saved for breeding.
