South Africa

South Africa one of the many Countries that will be participating in the Rio 2016 Olympics. It is a country in Africa which means it is represented by the black Olympic ring. South Africa is a 55.7 Million populated country that occupies 1.221 million square kilometers of Earth’s land.

This country has a lot of special features including the country having 3 capital cities. Which are Pretoria, Cape Town, Bloemfontein. They even have 12 official languages.

South Africa has many cultural foods which all sound delicious. Like Sadza, Chakalaka, Potjiekos and best of all Boerewors a really long coiled up sausage. In this amazing country South Africans can even cook in the wild.

They have attended over 20 Olympics. This year 126 South Africans will participate in the Rio 2016 Olympics. When over 20 South Africans will be playing football. South Africa will be involved in badminton, canoe sprint cycling, diving, equestrian, golf, gymnastics and much more.

There are 4 main religions in South Africa. They are Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Islam. The whole of South Africa is made up of different religions and sometimes one religion is more common in a certain area. Like when Protestant is 36.6%, Zionist Christian is 11.1%, Pentecostal Charismatic is 8.2%, Methodist is 6.8%, Dutch Reformed is 6.7%, Anglican is 3.8%, Catholic is 7.1%, other types of Christian is 36%, other is 2.3% and none is 15.1%.

There are a lot of big names in South Africa like Nelson Mandela who was a freedom fighter and other celebrities  in sport like AB de Villiers, a major cricketer who is paid 3.5 million dollars for playing cricket

South Africa is a wonderful country with many aspects to it, some of which I have talked about. Hope this means you can learn more about South Africa and see how much more fascinating it is.

Yellowhead

A Yellowhead is a New Zealand native bird which means it is mostly found in that country.

A Yellowhead is a small sparrow-sized, yellow-headed bird that is averagely fifteen centimeters. A normal Yellowhead weighs 30 grams and for an average female is twenty-six grams.

Yellowheads are only found in the southern half of New Zealand, with mohua nests in tree holes, making it highly vulnerable to predators like possums, stoats and rats.

Even though Yellowheads they have small wings they can travel very fast to their destinations. Yellowhead also has a very good grips so if the wind is strong it can still be on what it’s holding onto.

What is digital citizenship?

Digital citizenship is a ‘name’ or ‘title’ given to a person that is confident and is capable user of technology, which is also known as ICT. People that use the internet or any technology effectively or responsibly are rightly known as Digital Citizens. Digital citizens participate in educational activities online.

How can you be a good digital citizen?

You can be a good digital citizen by following the rules on how to use digital technology. You have to be safe and always cautious because there could be someone pretending to be someone else. You should always think before you do something. You have to always keep your personal information to yourself and within your family. Lastly, you should stand up for other people who are having trouble on the internet. If you use these steps, then you can be a good digital citizen.

Cities in Samoa are very small because it is a small countries and the cities are Apia, Vaiusu, Gataivai, Vava'u, and lots of other cities.

Sunday: The Burning Bush

God answers Moses, “I am who I am” (Yahweh). Other meanings of God's answer can be “I come to be all that exists” and “I cause to be all that happens.” God seems to be saying that God will come in his own time and will not be controlled by Moses. God will be who he will be. He came to save the people because it is his choice. “And he said, ‘I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim before you the name, “The Lord”; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy'”

Monday: Lamb

Moses gathers the people. He orders that a lamb be sacrificed and the blood of the lamb be put on the doorframes of the houses. This will be a sign to God to “pass over” the houses of the Hebrews. That night the Hebrews eat roasted lamb and unleavened bread, preparing for the journey. Egyptian houses are filled with mourning, “for there was not a house without someone dead” (Exodus 12:30). Pharaoh, finally convinced that he cannot defeat God, lets the people go.

Tuesday: Tablets of the Torah

When Moses and Aaron go up on Mount Sinai, God first reminds them of what he has done for them: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery” (Exodus 20:2). He then tells them what they need to do in order to live in relationship with God and one another. We call these instructions the Ten Commandments.

Wednesday: Ram’s horn Trumpet

Joshua led the Hebrew people from success to success in conquering the land of Canaan. The biblical writer attributes this to his obedience and faithfulness to God. The Canaanite people were defeated, their cities were destroyed, and the spoils of war were offered to God. Like Moses, Joshua was successful until his death, at the age of 110, the same age of Joseph at his death.

Thursday: Clay Water Pitcher

Gideon, a farmer, is threshing his wheat in a winepress so that he can hide it from the Midianites. When God tells him that he will lead the Hebrew people against their enemies, Gideon ridicules the idea. He tells God that God abandoned the people and does not seem prepared to keep his promises. God is not put off; he gives the task to Gideon and promises that he will be with him. Gideon does not think much of God's choice, as his tribe is among the smallest. God, of course, realizes this. God wants to emphasize that when victory comes, it comes from God. The Hebrew people will never win if they depend on themselves.

Friday: Crown

Saul is a member of the tribe of Benjamin, the smallest of the tribes. He is described as handsome and tall, a man of substance. His father, a wealthy man, loses a number of donkeys. Saul goes in search of them but cannot find them. Told of a holy man in a nearby town, Saul goes to see him to ask if he can help Saul find the donkeys. Samuel is in the shrine of the town, conducting the sacrifices. When Samuel sees Saul, he realizes that Saul is the man God has told him about in a dream. God told Samuel that Saul is the man who will help free the people from the Philistines.

Saturday: Shepherd's Crook or Harp

David was a great poet and a person of deep, yet flawed, spirituality. He is credited with a heartfelt song of faith in God for his continued protection (2 Samuel 22). In this song, David describes God as a rock, fortress, deliverer, shield, horn, stronghold, and refuge. God's actions in David's life are like the mighty forces of nature aiding him: breakers surge and floods overwhelm; the earth sways and shakes, trembles and quakes. David's enemies flee and are destroyed, ground into the dust and trampled. God's commitment to David will not end, though David is unfaithful in many ways. God's covenant love is steadfast and enduring.

Evaluation for 2015

Evaluation for the year's work- on reading, inquiry, maths, writing and Science and social studies.

What did I learn in term 1, we learnt about plants and bees. In term 2 we learnt about ANZAC and Chocolate. In term 3 we learnt about Marbles and making experiments with ice marbles.

In term 4 we are learning about Toys in the 1900’s and 2000’s and Digital Citizen. I learned different values which will help me in the future.

`How is that learning going to help you?

By looking on it and getting helped in the future.  Learning different topics will make me wise and be able to relate them in my future learning.

What am I pleased about?

I am pleased on finishing my work and posting it on my blog

My teacher, Mrs Cochrane and my parents who looked at my work every night specially my Spelling and homework.

What do I need help with?

My handwriting, punctuation and grammar. At present I am doing something about it, my teacher said I made good improvement.

What do I want to learn next time?

Electronics, robotics, to join in Science fair, more hands on experiments.

With digital learning- More apps and sites so we can present our work in different ways

Butterflies

Butterflies are strange creatures that live in the world .

Australian butterflies sometimes are blown away partly and some of them die.Butterflies  shelter themselves with the ongaonga nesting leaf plant and it is very poisonous and spiky.Not all butterflies manage to survive very well.Not all butterflies look alike.  When butterflies  migrate they travel in swarms. It might be too cold for some species to survive. Butterflies  migrate because it will be too cold or hot for the.
